The Dog on the Porch
This was my first book on delving into dog psychology and an effort to acquaint people with how a dog thinks and acts. I was convinced and still am that there is a tremendous void. But it was my intent to shrink that void. The book is a gentle, practical guide to understanding how dogs perceive the world around them. This book helps owners interpret behavior, reduce confusion, and build calmer, more trusting relationships with their dogs. It layed the foundation for more writing on what was to come in a much more detailed way. It was a foundational book that earned its place for that purpose.
Through a Dog’s Eyes
This venture into canine psychology was from the standpoint of how what we do as humans give rise to problems in dogs. We typically don’t think that dogs should operate on the psychology of their species but insist that they abide by ours. It is a deep, accessible look at canine perception and emotional processing. This book teaches dog parents how dogs interpret human behavior, environments, and stress — and how small changes can dramatically improve communication.
The Canine Behavior Playbook
The impetus for this book was the recognition that, for once, a clear, actionable manual for shaping behavior through humane, predictable routines. I thought, “what if I gathered the world’s experts in one room and asked them to advise on different behaviors?”” This book gives owners step‑by‑step strategies for building good habits, reducing problem behaviors, and supporting a dog’s emotional stability based on what the world’s experts advise.
Inside the Canine Mind
I wanted to really take the reader into the world of the dog’s mind. Into his world. I provide here, a science‑based exploration of how dogs think, learn, and make decisions. This book blends psychology, neuroscience, and real‑world experience to help owners understand the mental processes behind everyday behavior.
While They Wait — The Shelter Handling Guide
What gave rise to this book was the sad understanding that those working in shelters get no real professional training for what they do or how they should do it. There is no attempt to trult They get knowledge passed along from others who only have the educacion and training from others who got the same before them. To my knowledge shelters are, by and large not managed by those who are prepared with a professional level of preparation. This inadequate level of preparation takes its toll on the animals under their care.ogs during their most vulnerable moments.
While They Wait — A Science‑Based Guide to Understanding, Assessing, and Treating Shelter Dogs
A comprehensive, evidence‑driven resource for shelters seeking to improve behavioral assessment and care. This book explains shutdown behavior, trigger stacking, regression, and recovery — giving staff the tools to help dogs stabilize and thrive.
The Dog Binary
A simple, powerful framework that teaches owners what behaviors to encourage — and what behaviors to gently interrupt. This book helps dog parents create clarity, consistency, and confidence in their training and daily routines.
